    Plaquenil ear problems

It can cause dizziness, ringing in your ears, and hearing loss. Less than 1% of the 28 million Americans who have hearing loss have it because of AIED. Your immune cells are always on the lookout for germs trying to invade your body. Just under 30% of people who have AIED have another autoimmune disease that affects their whole body, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, scleroderma, ulcerative colitis, or Sjoegren's syndrome (dry eye syndrome).

Brand name Plaquenil. Hydroxychloroquine comes only as a tablet you take by mouth. Hydroxychloroquine is used to treat malaria, lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis. Call your doctor immediately or get emergency medical help if you experience any of the following serious side effects Any vision problems, such as reading difficulties, sensitivity to light. Hearing problems, such as ringing or ticking in the ears, or hearing changes. Loss of balance. All blood work came back "normal", lupus is in remission/ inactive. Yay! Dr stopped Hydroxychloroquine plaquenil yesterday fearing it is now doing more harm than good. Over all I do feel it may have caused increased anxiety and depression and irritability.however lupus alone can trigger those symptoms I'm sure.

Many times, it's mistaken for an ear infection until hearing loss has spread to the second ear. If they mistake cells in your inner ear for a virus or bacteria, they attack them. Because the symptoms of AIED are so common, it can be hard to diagnose.

Lupus and ear problems MaryDusty posted Does anyone know if Lupus can cause problems with the inner ear, i.e. vertigo, hearing loss, pain from high pitched sounds? The doctor explained that I had eustachian tube dysfunction, which is suspected to be one of the primary causes of ear pain and pressure in Sjogren’s patients, as I wrote about here. He also diagnosed me with chronic sinusitis. Because the conditions are chronic and not acute.
